Shrinkage

When I’m not trying to trick artificial intelligence into destroying itself, I like to spend time (like most people I assume) reading studies on various aspects of physiology and social science.

Sharing that information can be difficult.

Last Saturday, I was explaining to my wife how three nutrients can make a 50-year-olds mitochondria like a twenty year old’s.

We were at a restaurant and she was feigning interest while her eyelids were clearly getting heavy.

She rested her chin on her palm and lost it.

Head fell straight into her soup which wasn’t enough to shake her out of the impact from four minutes of detail on Taurine etc.

Gurgling noises bubbling out of the minestrone, I had to act fast as she would probably come to before I could finish all the chicken wings and plead ignorance as to what happened to them.

I’ve known for a while that I just have to tell her what to take and not elaborate unless it’s nighttime and she can’t sleep.

One thing I don’t think she’ll do is take a cold shower regardless of my advice.  It has to be fairly cold but studies show there’s a significant decrease in work absence due to illness in those that are willing to experience cold stress in the morning.

Now, if you’re a male, I understand that having a mirror just outside the shower isn’t going to be the best showing when you step out of said cold shower, but it’s actually pretty exhilarating and it distinctly increases dopamine.  That means you’ll be in a better mood and be able to laugh with your wife as you’re drying off.  You’ll be laughing at how the cold takes your breath away and she’ll be glad you can’t read her mind, but it’s a great way to start the day.

In other words, a cold shower isn’t just good for the immune system and inflammation, it can improve your attitude.

That’s a big deal when you consider that people with anxiety did far worse with Covid.  A poor outlook can change your health.  I think most people understand that both in concept and reality.

To that extent, if you understand that negative thoughts can wreck your health do you appreciate that positive thoughts can improve health?

Studies show that expressing gratitude reduces stress hormones, improves sleep, and increases Immunoglobulin A which is what the Covid vaccine didn’t do and why it didn’t really slow transmission.

We need to unite in this reality.  We’ve allowed a narrative created because bad news sells to really divide the population.  I mean, there’s a likelihood that you’re going to consume more calories at lunch than a person in Sudan will over days.

My oldest had a friend visit us from Pakistan a few years ago.  I asked him what the perception of the U.S. is over there and he said, “most are too busy figuring out what they’re going to eat tomorrow, to worry about the U.S.”.

There are obese multimillionaires claiming oppression in this country and many buy into it.  It’s such a blessing to have the time to search for reasons to claim victimhood instead of having actual problems.

Anyway, only in the present world could somebody point out the obvious and get attacked politically so I’m going to go take a cold shower and use the new cologne my wife bought me.  It would be  a great gift if it wasn’t for the smell.
